Drinks: Wine bar

  • Last year 5 Walnut had a little music and little bustle coming through the windows. A year later people lean through the window and flood the streets to see jazz and ragtime from The Big Nasty and The John Henrys among others. The bar has amped up its schedule to become a hotspot for throwback street-style hot jazz and other night music. “They all really want to play here” co-owner Melissa Terrezza says adding “the atmosphere they create is phenomenal.” And when Russ Wilson a local musician and executive 5 Walnut emcee shows up dressed in a three-piece suit with a pencil-thin mustache and a glass of Champagne it’s easy to imagine yourself in another era. — K.S.
